Lenten Season's in the Philippines

Lenten season is the spirit of remembrance how God demonstrate His greatest love for the mankind. We usually remember the famous bible verse ("For God so love the world that He give us His only son...") that was also used as part of the song during World Youth day here in the Philippines.





But how we celebrate this Holy week? We Filipino has a highly regards to the culture and traditional belief we adopted from our local and foreign ancestors. We usually value some of these.

Does hurting one's body by means of pinetesya is a part of ancestral tradition or culture? We know that it's only cause you pain and wounds to your body. Christianity believes that the sacrificial offering for mankind that was made by Jesus Christ was already finished and enough. Meaning doing such unbiblical things or hurting oneself may treat that Jesus did was not enough.

Watching a movie of Passion of the Christ this holy weekend may help us internalize how really God loves us.
